At-home lessons in Dubai are taught by tutors who live in the UAE and hold the Private Teacher Work Permit that MoHRE introduced with the Ministry of Education on 18 December 2023. You travel to the learner's home for a live lesson of 60, 90 or 120 minutes, with one learner or a small group of up to six.

The list splits by where you teach. A tutor living in the UAE needs the Private Teacher Work Permit for online lessons as well as lessons at home.
Teaching at home in Dubai
- A valid UAE residence visa if you are not a UAE national, together with your Emirates ID.
- A valid Private Teacher Work Permit from MoHRE, applied for through the MoHRE app, website or digital channels.
- The documents MoHRE's Private Tutor Licensing page listed in March 2026: a good conduct certificate, a medical fitness certificate, identity documents, approval of the Private Tuition Agreement and a colour photo on a white background. Employees and school teachers add a no-objection letter from their employer.

Do I need a permit to tutor at home in Dubai?
Yes. MoHRE issues the Private Teacher Work Permit, and the UAE government portal states that individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE will be subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. MoHRE and the Ministry of Education introduced the permit on 18 December 2023, with Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 as its legal basis. Educrest makes one promise to families about this. Every local tutor on Educrest holds a valid UAE private teacher permit.
What does the permit cost, and how long does it last?
In the wording of the UAE government portal, updated on 13 August 2026, the permit is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE charges no fee to issue it. The other documents come from their own issuers on their own terms, so a medical fitness certificate and a good conduct certificate are still yours to arrange. Applications go through the MoHRE app, website and digital channels.
Who can apply for the Private Teacher Work Permit?
The UAE government portal lists, in its own words, teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. In June 2026 MoHRE posted an infographic naming four groups: students, private-sector employees, government and semi-government employees, and private tutors. Read both official pages against your own situation before you apply.
How long does MoHRE take to issue the permit?
MoHRE's Private Tutor Licensing page gives a service completion time of two working days, and that figure sits in copies of the page archived through March 2026. Press reports of June 2026 quote MoHRE saying an application that meets every requirement is processed within two days. Older reports gave other figures, including one to five working days in September 2025, so treat MoHRE's own page as the current answer.
I live outside the UAE. Can I teach Educrest learners?
Yes, online. Subject specialists around the world teach Educrest learners live, and a tutor who lives outside the UAE teaches online only. At-home lessons in Dubai stay with UAE residents who hold the Private Teacher Work Permit. Lessons are scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, so work out how a Dubai school evening sits against your own clock before you apply.
I live in Dubai and want to teach online only. Do I still need the permit?
Yes. Press and law-firm summaries of MoHRE's December 2023 launch describe one permit covering lessons in person and online, given to one student or to a group, with no cap on the number of students. A UAE resident teaching Educrest learners online therefore works on the same Private Teacher Work Permit as a tutor who travels to a home in Dubai.
Which subjects and ages can I teach?
Educrest teaches from early years to adults: school curricula such as Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel and the IB, single school subjects, university coursework and dissertation support, languages and language exams, music, arts, technology and test preparation. Lessons for children in the early years run online in Dubai. Educrest teaches no Quran, tajwid, tahfidz or tafsir lessons, and it arranges no driving lessons.
I teach in a school. Can I tutor pupils from my own school?
No. The code of conduct that permit applicants sign bars a school teacher from giving private lessons to any student enrolled at the school that employs them, and press reports place that under the conflict-of-interest provision. The same code asks for confidentiality about students and parents, professional conduct, and no inappropriate messages or contact. Employees and school teachers also add a no-objection letter from their employer.
