What is a private tutor job in Abu Dhabi?
Tutoring privately in Abu Dhabi means working inside a learner's own home, on the island or out across the mainland, running a live lesson with one learner, or with as many as six sharing it. Law has framed the work since 18 December 2023: a UAE resident who gives private lessons holds the Private Teacher Work Permit, and the UAE government portal warns of fines and penalties under the applicable laws for anyone tutoring without a permit from MoHRE. Educrest brings the learners to you, and the permit stays in your own name.

ADEK counted 220 private schools and 233 nurseries across the emirate's three regions, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra (ADEK news, 6 October 2025).

In its PIRLS 2021 Encyclopedia chapter, covering the 2020-21 school year, ADEK reported 246,752 pupils in 203 private schools and 119,261 in 218 public schools, with 71% of private-school pupils registered as expatriates.

Those private schools ran 14 curricula in 2020-21: American in 69 schools, British in 56, the UAE Ministry of Education curriculum in 44, Indian in 29 and the International Baccalaureate in 12 (ADEK, PIRLS 2021 Encyclopedia).

Teach at home in Abu Dhabi
Lessons happen in the learner's home or another agreed place in the capital region of Abu Dhabi. The route is open to UAE residents holding a valid Private Teacher Work Permit. At-home teaching is opening in Abu Dhabi and Dubai first, and other emirates follow as permit-holding tutors join.

Requirements
What you need before your first lesson
These are the permit's own rules, as MoHRE and the UAE government portal state them.
To teach at home in Abu Dhabi
- An Emirates ID, and for an applicant who is not a UAE national, a valid UAE residence visa.
- Your own Private Teacher Work Permit. Applications reach MoHRE by app, by website, or through its other digital channels. As eligible applicants the UAE government portal lists teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students (u.ae, page updated 13 August 2026).
- Paperwork. Every applicant brings a good conduct certificate, a medical fitness certificate, valid identity documents, approval of the signed Private Tuition Agreement and a colour photo against a white background. A student applicant adds proof of student status and a guardian's consent; an employee or a registered schoolteacher adds their employer's letter of no objection. MoHRE's Private Tutor Licensing page carried that list in March 2026.

- Somewhere quiet to teach from, an internet line that holds for a full lesson, and hours in your own day that reach into Gulf Standard Time, UTC+4, where your Abu Dhabi learners are.
